1960s

1964

These former DU students reconnected after 59 years in San Mateo, California, on November 11, 2023: From left: Dennis Wilcox (’63) and his wife Marianne, John Cutler and Ellen “Kippy” Sutow Williams (BA ’64). 1969

Joseph Andrade (PhD ’69) has written a memoir, “Obrigado Pela Vida! Thank You for Life—An 80+ Year Perspective,” which includes his time at DU in the late ’60s. Joseph retired after a long career at the University of Utah and has written several books.

1970

Harry MacLean (JD ’67, MA ’70) recently published “Starkweather: The Untold Story of the Killing Spree That Changed America.” Harry is a New York Times bestselling author and an Edgar Award winner who writes true crime books.

Fran Scannell (MA ’70) published a short story entitled, “Ho Ho Ho,” in the holiday story anthology, “Particular Passages: Decked Halls.” Fran had a 40-year advertising career and now enjoys writing in his retirement.

1971

Thomas “T.F.” Long (BA ’71) has published a novel, “The Moon and the Gryphon.” The multi-generational thriller melds action, history and mythology.

Michael Gerosa (BA ’71) retired from General Electric in 2017 after 40 years and is enjoying drawing and acrylic painting classes as well as shredding black diamond Sierra slopes.

1976

Tom Cryer (BSBA ’76) travelled 3,800 miles north from DU to reach the Arctic Ocean via Land Rover. He made it to the Canadian Village of Tuktoyaktuk. “I encourage vehicle-assisted travel,” Tom said. “You meet the most interesting people!”

Christopher De Santis (MBA ’78) has published his first book, “Why I Find You Irritating: Navigating Generational Friction at Work.”

Gerald Glennon (BSBA ’78) has been appointed general manager at ESPACIO The Jewel of Waikiki, a luxury hotel in Honolulu.

1981

Pat Hamill (BS ’81) was inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame in February. Pat founded Oakwood Homes, one of the largest homebuilding companies in the Denver area. With a passion for supporting the community, Pat helped launch On2Homes in 2021, a modular product that provides housing at 40% of the area’s median housing price.

Carol Tomé (MBA ’81) has been appointed a 2024 Georgia Trustee by Gov. Brian Kemp and W. Todd Groce, president and CEO of the Georgia Historical Society. Carol is the chief executive officer of UPS. Previously, she served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Home Depot, Inc.

1987

Sharon Greenleaf La Pierre (PhD ’87) co-wrote a book chapter entitled "Reflective Conversations Between Two Experienced Women Art Educators and Their Life-Long Involvement Through Civic Engagement,” which details her life of civic engagement and its effect on her creative artistic work.

Paul Suter (BA ’88) established Suter Media Relations in 1993 and recently marked the firm’s 30th anniversary. The Denver-based media relations firm generates publicity for real estate businesses throughout Colorado.

Annie Dawid (PhD ’89) has published her sixth book, “Paradise Undone,” a novel on the Jonestown massacre. Annie teaches creative writing at DU’s University College.

1992

Mark Hemmerle (JD ’92) has joined Las Vegas-based Koin, Marker Trax, a cashless, digital alternative to casino markers, as chief legal officer.

1996

Stephen Helfenbein (BA ’96) is the new director of Sun Valley Resorts Ski & Ride School in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Brett Matarazzo (BFA ’96) presented an exhibition of collaborative works entitled “Counterpart,” at Lakewood’s Pirate Contemporary Art gallery in January. Brett has spent many years developing a contemporary art and design style that is environmentally and socially conscious.

1998

Dan Antal (MBA ’98) was named general counsel for Leidos, a Fortune 500 science and technology leader in Reston, Virginia. Dan previously served as general counsel for Rolls-Royce Defense North America. Prior to that, he had a long career at Leidos in a variety of legal positions.

1999

Elliott King (BA ’99) was elected vice president of the International Society for the Study of Surrealism. Elliott is an associate professor of art history at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

2000

Sachi Vines (BS ’00) has been promoted to associate athletic director for marketing and communications at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. Sachi has been with the RPI athletics department for 14 years and recently served as the director of marketing and promotions.

2002

Ryan Gaffney (BSBA ’02) has been appointed senior vice president of business development at ATHA Energy Corp. in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Kevin Rohnstock (JD ’02) has been promoted to partner at KSL Capital Partners, LLC, a leading investor in travel and leisure businesses. Kevin serves as the firm’s general counsel.

2003

Brandon Middleton-Pratt (BSBA ’03) was named a partner in the Austin, Texas office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he specializes in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and venture capital financing.

David Lively (MBA ’03) has been named vice president for alumni relations and development at Northwestern University. David joined Northwestern in 2012, leading fundraising for schools and programs.

2006

Stacey Bowers (PhD ’06) has been named the new director of the Security and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation. Stacey is a seasoned practitioner in corporate and securities law and has served as director of the Corporate and Commercial Law Program at DU’s Sturm College of Law since 2018.

Emilie Cook (BA ’09) has been appointed to the Georgia Military College Board of Trustees. Emilie is an attorney and an advocate for children and families.

Chantel Contiguglia (JD ’06) was appointed by Gov. Jared Polis to the 1st Judicial Court. Chantel is an Arapahoe County Court judge in the 18th Judicial District.

Pax L. Moultrie (JD ’06) was appointed by Gov. Jared Polis to fill a vacancy in the Colorado Court of Appeals. Pax is a District Court judge in the 2nd Judicial District.

2007

Christine Austin (PhD ’07) has earned a Fulbright Specialist Program award. Christine is the director of assessment and institutional effectiveness and professor of student affairs administration at Arkansas Tech University. Through the program, she will exchange knowledge and establish partnerships with the Kosovo Accreditation Agency during a visit to the Republic of Kosovo.

2008

Jessica Ostermick (MS ’08) has been named the new Colorado market leader for CBRE, a commercial real estate services and investment firm. She will lead CBRE’s five Colorado offices.

Kathleen Snow Sutton (BSBA ’08) has been elected to shareholder of Polsinelli Law Firm in Denver. Kathleen’s practice focuses on health care, reimbursement, telehealth, licensure, enrollment and certification.

2010s

2010

Midori Clark (MPS ’10) has been named the director of the Fort Worth Public Library. She will lead the library system, including 240 full-time employees and a $26 million budget.

Antonia Gaona (MLIS ’10) started her new position as director of the Laramie (Wyoming) County Library System on December 4. Antonia previously served as deputy director of the Boulder Public Library.

Antoinette Gomez (MSW ’10) was selected as the 2023-2024 recipient of the Outstanding Scholar Alumni Award by the Schreyer Honors College. The award recognizes graduates who demonstrate exemplary leadership skills, professional achievement and a passion for lifelong learning.

Troy Hashimoto (right, MBA ’10) has been appointed Hawaii state senator by Gov. Josh Green. Troy will represent District 5, which includes Wailuku, Kahului, Waihee, Waikapu Mauka and Waiehu on the island of Maui.

Ana Maria Gutiérrez (JD ’11) has been named one of the Denver Business Journal’s 2024 class of 40 Under 40 winners. Ana is a partner at Womble Bond Dickinson, an international law firm with an office in Denver.

2012

John Crone (JD ’12) has joined the Anchorage law firm of Landye Bennett Blumstein as a partner.

David Ludwig (JD ’12) has been promoted to assistant general manager of the Arizona Coyotes hockey team. David will assist the general manager in all aspects of running the club’s personnel and hockey operations.

2013

Christine Michel (JD ’13) has joined the Terrell Hogan law firm in Jacksonville, Florida, as a trial attorney in the litigation department.

Dustin Moyer (MPP ’13) has been named chief executive officer for Mountain Family Health Centers in Colorado. Dustin previously served as director of innovation at the Center for Improving Value in Health Care.

2014

Jenna Bainbridge (BM ’14) made her Broadway debut this spring in the musical “Suffs,” becoming the first wheelchair user to originate a role in a Broadway musical. Jenna was a long-time performer with Denver’s disability affirmative Phamaly Theatre Company.

Alison Janecek Borer (BSBA ’14) has been elected partner at Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather LLP, with offices in Nebraska and Colorado. Alison’s practice focuses on real estate transactions.

Ryan Vinson (MRSL ’14), founder of Energy Domain in Fort Worth, Texas, an online oil and gas marketplace, joined forces with Palace Road Partners to provide investment banking-level services to their shared clients.

2019

Annika Galloway (BA ’19) has joined the family business, Galloway Company, in Neenah, Wisconsin, as communication and PR manager. Annika is the fourth generation to join the organization, the largest supplier of cream liqueur bases and sweetened condensed milk in the U.S. and leading supplier of ice cream bases.

2020s

2021

Katherine Klein (JD ’21) has joined Keller Rohrback, L.L.P. in the firm’s Denver office. Recently, Katherine served as a law clerk in the Colorado Court of Appeals and previously served as a law clerk in Colorado’s 2nd Judicial District.

2023

Simon Fournier (BSBA ’23) took the lead at Beaver Creek’s Stifel Success NorAm Cup in December, earning a victory and a second place in the giant slalom, plus another win and top 10 finish in the slalom. Simon is skiing with Alpine Canada Alpin and training with the Quebec team.

Henry Hardy (JD ’23) has joined Rose Law Group in Scottsdale, Arizona. Henry specializes in real estate and land use and zoning laws.

Manny Loley (PhD ’23) was a guest speaker at the Santa Fe Community College Library. Manny, who is a Diné storyteller, read a selection from his writings, which include poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. Since 2018, he has served as director of the Emerging Diné Writers’ Institute at Navajo Technical University.
